In August each year Seattle hosts Seafair, a huge festival involving many events, but my favourite part is the Boeing Air Show held over Lake Washington. The key performer each year is the US Navy demonstration team the “Blue Angels“.

This year I didn’t actually attend the main area of the show which is accompanied with Hydro boat races. Instead I found a spot high on the hill near a bridge that crosses the lake. This is also a main cross over point for the air displays do it gave an interesting and different perspective on the show (for free!). The “Blue Angels” are accompanied with historic warbirds, aerobatic performances, helicopters, and military jets.

An important component prior to any “Blue Angels” performance is their famous support aircraft “Fat Albert“. A Lockheed C-130 Hercules transport that is put through its paces by expert US Marine Corps pilots.

The “Blue Angels” flying demonstration includes plenty of low and high passes over the lake to keep the crowd highly entertained!
