Aero L-39 Albatros up close in NZ

The Aero L-39 Albatros was a highly successful Eastern Bloc jet trainer built in the former nation of Czechoslovakia. It was introduced into Warsaw Pact air forces including the Soviet Union from 1971 onwards and continues to operate with many air forces around the world today (approximately 2,800 were built). They are also quite prolific these days in the hands of private operators including jet racers at Reno, Nevada and even a civilian aerobatics team The Patriots. It is a sleek, fast little jet that has very clean lines and this example I saw up real close during the Wings Over Wairarapa 2013 air show in Masterton, NZ displays this beautifully.
