Rolls Royce Beauties

When thinking of classic British aircraft of World War Two the Supermarine Spitfire and De Havilland Mosquito always spring to mind. Both were powered by the Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 liquid cooled engine that proved to be one of the most successful of that era and powered numerous other famous aircraft such as the Avro LancasterHawker Hurricane and what is considered on of the best fighters of World War Two the North American P-51 Mustang.

Earlier this year I attended Wings Over Wairarapa in New Zealand. It was a fantastic event with lots of classic aircraft including the Spitfire and Mosquito. What a beautiful sight it was to see them take to the air together!
