On July 26th, 2014 I attended the first ever Flying Heritage Collection Skyfair. This was a spectacular aviation event run by the Flying Heritage Collection at Paine Field in Everett, Washington. Numerous World War Two aircraft flew on the day and put on spectacular displays. The formation flights though were very unique and added a special touch to the day. The grand finale particularly.
The 2014 FHC Skyfair ended with a formation of a North American P-51D Mustang, Messerschmitt Bf-109E, Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXe, Ilyushin Il-2 Sturmovik and a North American B-25J Mitchell together (all part of the Flying Heritage Collection – it was a shame their Mitsubishi Zerocouldn’t join in too but alas it had mechanical issues). There is nowhere else in the world you could see this as the Flying Heritage Collection have the only flying Ilyushin Il-2 Sturmovik. It was an amazing day!
