Aviation Nation 2016 celebrated “75 Years of Airpower” at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. The base was established in 1941 and has remained in continuous use ever since. Nellis is the premiere USAF combat training base and home to the USAF Warfare Centre. It is famous for the Red and Green Flag combat training exercises involving all types of USAF combat aircraft along with support aircraft and includes the US Army, US Navy, USMC and allied nations in this extensive and realistic training program.
Nellis is home to numerous squadrons so plenty of aircraft were on hand at Aviation Nation to participate in the flying displays including the latest Fifth Generation stealth aircraft technology USAF Lockheed Martin F-22A Raptor air dominance fighter and USAF Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter (USAF and Royal Netherlands Air Force examples were also in the static displays). The following photos are some of the modern military flying highlights of my two days at the air show.

In my next post I will show some of the current military static display aircraft that were spread across the public access areas of the base. The Warbirds will follow in a later post.
