Kyneton Air Show 2017 – Part I: Aerobatic Displays

The Kyneton Air Show on Sunday April 23rd, 2017 in country Victoria was a great show with a good crowd turnout that I was glad to attend with a couple of my uncles. I always enjoy going to smaller air shows which feature local airfield resident aircraft and visiting aircraft such as warbirds and military aircraft. You can wander the airfield, take a look in open hangars, see aircraft up close, talk to the pilots and enjoy some great flying.

Aerobatics & Formation Flying

Paul Bennet Airshows (Wolf Pitts Pro aerobatics) had a lot to do with making this a fun day, along with Chris Sperou in his Pitts S1-11B “Super Stinkerand numerous warbird, civil and experimental kit aircraft owners in both flying and static displays. A low cloud ceiling delayed the start of the show and the weather caused some minor issues during the day but generally it flowed well and was interspersed with plenty of sunny moments. Gaps in the flying program were filled with Remote Controlled aircraft displays – despite the opening RC jet running off the runway and meeting a crunching end with a fence, the show went on without further mishap!

Aerobatic Finale

Paul Bennet Airshows and Chris Sperou completed the flying program with some rigorous tandem aerobatics in their Pitts Wolf Pro and Pitts S1-11B “Super Stinker“. They wowed the crowd one more time!

In my next post I will show some photos from the Yak-52 Formation Team display. They put on some nice flying in this former Soviet training aircraft.
