In addition to the aircraft flown by East Germany, the Technik Museum Speyer also has plenty of other Cold War era Soviet and Warsaw Pact aircraft in its halls and airpark. It’s pretty cool to enter the belly of a Beast from the East as you walk inside a huge 1960’s era Antonov An-22 Cock strategic airlifter (not the worst NATO name assigned to a Soviet aircraft)!

Up next I will show you the ultimate Soviet era display at Speyer – the Buran OK-GLI test shuttle of the Soviet space program. The jewel in the crown of their collection!
Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-21PFM Fishbed…pink??? Or ex-Red?

Hi, it was painted that way for aerobatic displays but I have read they were originally painted orange

Thank you Deano. I understand the stunt patrol was red. The name is “Red Scorchers”. Is it possible that the colour has faded with the sun (red is the first colour to disappear in case of intense light agents)? Or has it been colored so specifically? And why?

From what I have read, for some reason in some western publications it was displayed as pink, so they may have simply painted it incorrectly to represent the published colours
