Some of the Mil Mi-24 Hind assault gunships at the Ukraine State Aviation Museum in Kiev have had a bit of a make-over. Who would have thought these mean looking, Cold War era death dealers could become a stunning work of art?! The painted examples are Mi-24P Hind F (620+ produced 1981 – 1989) and Mi-24V Hind E (over 1,000 produced 1976 – 1986) variants.

They have some more traditional examples there in military livery and markings, including an early Hind A with the “Glasshouse” cockpit. For me the later variants like the Hind D are the meanest looking…

How very odd! Were they literally art projects or was there something more to it? They are certainly colourful!

Great makeover of the gunships, and an interesting concept! Wish they’d retained the rotors on all of them

Not sure where they are but there are lots of aircraft parts in the yard behind
