One of the impressive aspects of the Technik Museum Speyer in Germany is the way they have positioned aircraft in the airpark atop plinths and the like. The Lufthansa Boeing 747-230 named “Schleswig-Holstein” is something else though – a) it’s a Jumbo Jet! b) the structure it sits atop is huge! c) what an experience it is going up there and walking along the wing up high!

The 747-230 was received by Lufthansa in 1978. By the time it was retired and presented to the museum in 2002, it had carried 4.9 million passengers, flown a total distance of 800,000,000 km at an average speed of 800 km/h and accumulated almost 100,000 flight hours!
Wow and double wow ! How imaginative !

I’m sure that Jumbo is nice and secure, but how the hell did they get it up there?
